Move.me brings PlayStation Move development to your PC this Spring

Sony's Move.Me is a server application that runs on the PS3 system. It allows anyone with a PS3 to experiment with motion controls and is officially sanctioned and supported by Sony Computer Entertainment," John McCutchan, senior engineer with SCEA’s Developer Support team, wrote on Sony's official blog. "Move.Me sends the complete state of the PlayStation Move and navigation controllers to the PC, giving you the exact same data that licensed developers typically have access to."

The software will be available for download via the PlayStation Network this spring, but you can also apply for early access if you'd like to get started on your project ahead of time. What can you expect from Sony's scholastic efforts you ask.  Well, here goes a list of things Sony seems that may fit the Move's foray into the edu-game space.

  • Games and tools that support kids' physical fitness and nutrition.
  • Kid-friendly programming interfaces for computer/technology classes or individual learning.
  • Physical therapy and rehabilitation.
  • Sports physiology or fitness training.
  • Music and the creative arts.

Darkness II Coming Fall 2011

2K Games has officially announced The Darkness II for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The sequel to The Darkness will be released in fall 2011 and will not be developed by Starbreeze Studios this time around. Instead, the game is being developed by Digital Extremes, the team responsible for Dark Sector and the PS3 port of BioShock.

The Darkness II takes place two years after the events of the first game. Jackie Estacado, who is now a mob boss, hasn’t been using his supernatural powers since he avenged his girlfriend’s murder. After an unprovoked attack on his life, a mob war breaks out and the powers of The Darkness are once again unleashed.

The game will feature “Quad-Wielding” gameplay mechanics that will allow players to use their Demon Arms to decimate enemies while simultaneously blasting them with both weapons in hand. Comic book writer Paul Jenkins will be providing a narrative that promises to “weave dark humor with hardcore tenderness.”

Darkness was one of my favorite games at the beginning of this generation, I just hope Digital Extremes do this great game justice.

Portal 2 PS3 Has Cross-Platform PC-PS3 Multiplayer, Free PC Version

Valve Software revealed more details about the previously-announced Steam support for the PlayStation 3 version of the upcoming puzzle-heavy shooter Portal 2.

Newly-announced Steam features in the PS3 version of the game include support for PC/Mac-to-PS3 multiplayer play, cloud-based storage of PS3 save games and cross-platform chat (there is no announced support for PS3-to-PC/Mac cloud-based game saves).

When the game launches on PS3 in April this year, it will be the first time that PC-derived Steam functionality will appear on any home console. The game is coming to PS3, PC, Mac and Xbox 360, the latter of which will not have Steam functionality.

PlayStation 3 gamers who buy Portal 2 will also be able to unlock a Steam Play copy of the game (i.e. the full PC/Mac version) for free by linking their PlayStation Network accounts with Steam.

Programmers will create awesome new effects and gameplay; art, design and audio teams can play as they create with the fastest, entirely real-time WYSIWYP pipeline ever, materially reducing development time and risk – even producers, project managers and suits will love CryENGINE 3!

Of course, our international team of more than 20 dedicated support staff are available right now to help our licensees make the most of CryENGINE 3; at their studio or at one of our support centres around the world.” added Carl Jones, Director of Business Development CryENGINE.

You are not a Kid anymore 53% of American Adult Play Video Games

According to Pew/Internet more than half of all American play some sort of video games. This means those of you that has a spouse that can get on your ass about your sometimes ultra-violent hobby can finally STFU(stay totally fun and undertanding).
I guess since the introduction to the Nintendo Wii adults over 65, a stunning third plays video games every day compare to younger adults whom plays only 20% everyday. The number one reason for the fanboy internet explosion is the fact that 75% of the video gaming populous own a video game console.

It is officially a mute point in any one's home, playing video games is as American as apple pie/hotdogs and baseball.

Sony Playtstation3 placed Second by Metacritic Rating Trend

By NanoGeek

By brifley scanning this PDF published by John Riccitiello CEO of Electronic Arts also known as EA. It seem that the Sony Playstation 3 has ranked just below Nintendo on Metacritic's in 2007 and placed second. Sony scored 74 and Nintendo scored 75. Microsoft Games scored 70. The Industry average is about 67. It looks like Sony's Playstation 3 has some quality games after all. I wonder how this trend will shift in 2008 with Sony riding their wave of momentum.

Future EA Games in the Pipeline
:

Warhammer Online Age Of Reckoning

Spore
Mercenaries 2
Mirrors Edge
Tiberium
Dragon Age
Sims Animals
FaceBreaker
Nerf
BloomBlox
Saboteur
Monopoly

Nvidia Buys Gaming Software, Hardware Maker Ageia

Nvidia plans to use Ageia products in conjunction with CUDA, or compute unified device architecture. Developers use the technology to build programs that offload work from a computer's general-purpose CPU to a separate graphics-processing unit.
