Vamps Poster Release

MTV has premiered a poster for Vamps, one of my favorite movies of the late 1980's, Amy Heckerling's horror-comedy that reunites the director with her Clueless star Alicia Silverstone. The film follows Stacy (Krysten Ritter) and Goody (Silverstone) who have been living the good "night-life" in New York City as two young, beautiful vampires until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality and much more. Sigourney Weaver and Malcolm McDowell co-star. No word yet on an exact release date.

NanoGeekTechTV: Happy Feet 2 in 3D - Trailer

The sequel to Warner Bros' hit 2006 animation comedy and one of my favorite movies about the world of dancing and singing Penguins is due out in "November."

Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Sofia Vergara, and Hank Azaria are lending their vocals to the 3D flick, alongside the first film’s stars Robin Williams and Elijah Wood.

The teaser, below, shows the all-singing, all-dancing penguins flapping around to renditions of LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out” and Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back” - swapped for “fluffy back” in the PG adventure.

Tom Cruise Signs up for Del Toro Horror

Tom Cruise has signed up to star in Guillermo Del Toro's next big screen adaptation of the HP Lovecraft si-fi novel At The Mountains of Madness.

He's set to play geology professor William Dyer, a scientist-explorer who discovered a dangerous secret hidden in the ruins of an alien city during an expedition to the Antarctic.

Producer Don Murphy told io9 that not only is Cruise attached to star, but filming is scheduled to begin in June.

He also added that "the script is very close to the H.P. Lovecraft source material" which was originally serialized in the 1936 issues of Astounding Stories.

Update: At the Mountains of Madness has been put in limbo. The New Yorker's news desk ran a melancholy addendum to its Feb. 7 feature about director Guillermo del Toro and his attempts to make a $150 million live-action film of H.P. Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness." Apparently Universal refused to greenlight the project due to del Toro's insistence that it be released with an "R" rating rather than a "PG-13."


Del Toro's e-mail to New Yorker writer Daniel Zalewski was two sentences long: "'Madness' has gone dark. The ‘R’ did us in."....Got to love the moral police.

Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci in new Scorsese movie

Everyone's favorite Goodfellas will be teaming up for the ninth time for an upcoming movie.

Discussing the film, based on the novel by Charles Brandt, De Niro said: "It's a movie based on a book called 'I Heard You Paint Houses'.

"It's about a guy who is - and I believe the book - says he's now passed away, but he confessed that he killed Hoffa and also Joe Gallo over here on Hester Street. And so I'm going to play that character, Joe Pesci's gonna be in it and Al Pacino is going to be in it and Marty's going to direct it."

De Niro will portray Frank Sheeran, a former union leader who becomes a hitman.

'Hellraiser' reboot 'different from the originals'

Writer and director team Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier have claimed that their reboot of the Hellraiser film series will explore new aspects of the Clive Barker novel, rather than simply remaking the original films.

Lussier and Farmer, best known for the mundane 2009 horror My Bloody Valentine, are currently working on a script for Dimension Films.

"We're keeping it within the world of the box," Lussier explained to Shock Till You Drop. "What the box is and what the box does."

"Clive's film is very personal," Farmer added. "That's a difficult story for us to come in and retell."

Hellraiser has always been one of my favorite horror franchise, it will be very interesting

to see what direction the film goes in.

New 'Clash Of The Titans' to be "gritty & awesome"

Director Jonathan Liebesman has stated that his Clash Of The Titans sequel will be much darker and more "gritty" than the 2010 film. I honestly hope so because the remake was the worst movie ever, I would rather watch The Last Airbender on a never ending loop.

Liebesman, who will direct the film following Louis Letterier's decision not to return for the sequel, is perhaps best known for his horror prequel Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

"It's going to be a much more natural gritty, grounded fantasy movie," Liebesman explained to Coming Soon. "Just think Gladiator with lots of creatures.

"I'm excited," the director added. "It's a good opportunity to do something awesome with some great actors in a great genre."

Rob Zombie's The Lords Of Salem

Much of what he's been said has already been reported before, but Empire managed to get some juicy tidbits out of him. What we know about Lords is that it's about ancient witches wreaking havoc on modern day Salem. Zombie elaborated: "There were twenty people that everyone knows about - obviously all innocent - executed as witches in Salem. The basic premise of the film is that there were a further four who actually were witches, who were killed secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem's descendants. That's when the movie jumps ahead to the present day and things start to go wrong..."

Shooting is expected to begin April 18 with a release planned for late-2011 or early 2012. He went on to tell Empire, "Lords of Salem is probably the bleakest of all my films. It's only gonna get worse!"

'The Amazing Spider-Man' Get's official Title

These last few weeks of movie news have been big ones for comic book fans including myself. The highly anticipated "X-Men: First Class" trailer debuted on Thursday and, kicking things off this week, a new image and the official title for the new Spider-Man movie have been revealed.

Columbia Pictures announced today (just in time for Valentine's Day) that the flick would be titled "The Amazing Spider-Man" and simultaneously released a photo of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, the first official shot of Garfield in the full-on suit.

Gun Totting Cats, Armed Camels and Special Ops Rabbits: How Cute

Created by IDA and Studio Anima, this first 20-minute short of a new animated series details the exploits of two rabbit soldiers from Special Force "Cat Shit One" as they infiltrate enemy lines to rescue a hostage.

The computer-generated original series is based on Apocalypse Meow, a three-volume manga series written and illustrated by Motofumi Kobayashi, whose other works include the Psychonauts comic and Panzergrenadier.

Great Deal Alert: Industrial-grade 3D animation suite for $10-$40

The guys at Project:Messiah are doing something interesting. Messiah's a piece of 3D animation and rendering software, so named as it was first assembled for use on the movie Dogma. It's seriously heavy-duty kit - a rigger's dream with lightning-fast bones, fabric sim that's top-notch, beautiful rendering and all that jazz. It's normally $500-$1,200 for the full version, which puts it in the 'Sizeable studio or Rich Guy' bracket. They're trying an experiment, though - they're offering the entry version for $10, and the whole tamale for $40. If enough people buy it at this price, everyone gets what they paid for. If they don't hit their quota, then everyone gets a refund.

Super Bowl XLV: Movie Trailers

The Super Bowl was finally beam into millions of peoples living rooms yesterday. One of the better Super Bowl's in a few years. More than half of the viewers gather to socialize, drink beer, eat tons of guacamole(8 million pounds) and check out the 2.9 million dollar 30 plus second commercials.

Some very cool commercials debut during the Super Bowl, especially Motorola's Xoom and Audi's A8 being some of my favorites. The best part of the Super Bowl for me(besides the game), is finally getting to see the movie trailers for the upcoming summer blockbuster season.

Razzie nominations

There was some pretty terrible movies and performances in 2010. My favorite turd of 2010 was Splice, one of the worst movies I've seen in my life. I'm surprise that Splice did not make the list.

War Machine in the works?

Marvel is reportedly planning a spin-off from their insanely successful Iron Man franchise featuring War Machine, or for those who never cared to have read the comics, Lt. Col. James Rhodes (Robert Downey Jr.’s best bud).

Played by Don Cheadle, War Machine took on a more prominent role in Iron Man 2, helping defeat the Iron Man's nemesis and getting to wear his own bad ass Iron Man suit in the process.

Ghost House Pictures: Looking at Evil Dead Remake Script

Rob Tapert, the man who operates Ghost House Pictures with Sam Raimi, says the long-mooted Evil Dead remake is not dead.

"It's possible; we're looking at a script this month," Tapert told Freep.com during an interview concerning Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. "What's interesting about 'Evil Dead' is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. ... I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience."
