I wouldn't called this a rumor, its more pure speculation. In the recent Game Informer there's a pretty interesting interview with Shuhei Yoshida president of Sony Worldwide Studios.
The interviewer ask Mr. Shuhei Yoshida about the ICO/Shadow of the Colossus team and what are they working on? It seems that Team ICO has been working on a new exclusive project for PS3 since 2005 and we may get our sweaty, greasy, sticky, salty ass hands on it sometime next year 2009.
Team ICO seems to have a 4 year development cycle or as Mr Shuhei Yoshida president of Sony Worldwide Studio's put it "They are very hard at work, and if you remeber, ICO came out in 2001. That took four years to build. And Shadow of Colossus came out in 2005, so I named them the Olympic team" So the big question would be when would this next great classic be shown?
If you where to ask me "When would they tease us with something new from Team ICO?" I would have to say, "Sony may be tease us at this year TGS 2008 on October 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th in Japan. TGS 2008 is very big for Sony in their home(or HOME) market this year."
My theory for the importance of TGS 2008, Sony needs to set up a great Japanese lineup for next year. This will continue and add to the momentum this holiday season will drum up. Besides showing Team ICO next project we may also see Kingdom Hearts 3 at TGS 2008. These titles would help sales tremendously in Japan and they will coincided with a round of price cuts from Sony for Holiday 2009..
