The new PS3 Slim, TrueHD / DTS-HD MA bitstream output support

Very interesting news out of Sony of Japan. The new PS3 slim (CECH-2000)supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio bitstream output to your receiver. Your probably thinking well the PS3 always had this HD Audio output setup.

See the HDMI chip on previous generations of the PS3 didn't support bitstream output for the new high def codecs like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. As such, the PS3 had to decode it internally before sending it over to your receiver via LPCM. A process that could garble the lossless audio depending on your setup.

So if you are a proud owner of a PS3 Slim and a budding audiophile you can brag tell the cows come home that you have %100 real true HD audio fidelity.
