Kojima Productions to announce "Big Surprise" at Next Month's E3
Thursday, May 26, 2011
K. Joseph
Kojima Productions has promised surprises as part of Konami’s pre-E3 event next Thursday. Speaking in the studio’s official podcast, host Sean Eyestone mentioned that company has “something special” to announce before the big event in L.A..
“We are going to have a few announcements at E3 and we have some surprises, so be looking forward to that,” he said.
“And we have something special lined-up going on a little bit before E3. So next week, we’re going to have a little special something on June 2.
“Can’t say too much about it, keep your eyes and ears peeled. There’ll be some interesting news coming out of that leading into E3. It’s a Konami event that we’re holding. And, of course, Kojima Productions has a few things in there. But be excited, folks!”
Sony has to make some huge strides to win back it's reputation and fans after the 4/20 debacle. So I expect Sony to pull no punches this year for E3.

Monday, May 09, 2011
K. Joseph
Ninja Theory may be working on the sequel to one of my favorite games of all time Heavenly Sword, according to reportsAccording to PlayGamer, the follow-up will be an open-world sandbox title set ten years after the original.
The publication went on to say that players will start out utilising hand-to-hand combat, before wielding weapons and mastering different martial art styles. Missions will be replayable within an interactive environment.
Last year, studio head Tameem Antoniades told VG247 that he had an idea for a sequel involving protagonist Nariko being sent to hell.

Nintendo "Project Cafe" to Introduces “Screen Stream” Technology HD Controllers
Friday, April 22, 2011
K. Joseph
The cat's out of the bag, Nintendo is hard at work on a Wii successor that will actually use modern specs and technology; well kinda. The internet is ablaze with wild speculation and rumors of Nintendo's PS3/360 HD killer "Project Cafe"(Nintendo and HD in the same breath).
Besides having modern specs that will compete even surpass the current HD champs Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox360 the most intriguing thing about "Project Cafe" will no doubt be the controller.
Nintendo builds consoles around innovative control schemes that just happens to change the way we play and interact with Video Games.

It would seem that the Wii 2/Project Cafe will make use of integrated “Screen Stream” technology which will send players the game directly to their controller, displaying the action on built-in HD touch-screens. Each player will have a separate image connected to their part in the game, while the TV will be able to display each camera angle or turned off altogether.
Capable of splitting the images to four controllers and their 1080p HD displays, the hardware uses a special custom triple-core processor with an IBM PowerPC chip-set, similar to the one found in the Xbox 360. This will allow it the ability to be faster than Sony’s PS3 NVIDIA 7800GTX.
It seems Nintendo may be onto something again with a clever and innovate way to interact with games. Does Screen Stream Technology sound fucking cool or will it be the half-ass attempt to attract all the core-gamers Nintendo have lost over the past decade that fizzles in a few years.

Say it ain't so: Matrix 4 and 5 are being Considered
Monday, January 24, 2011
K. Joseph
Keanu Reeves has disclosed that he met the Wachowski brothers over Christmas to discuss development of the fourth and fifth instalments in the Matrix saga. Instalments which will be in 3D.Considering that Matrix Reloaded was a major disappointment and Matrix Revolutions was terrible. Where can they go with the Matrix franchise? How can the Wachowskis brothers capture the magic in the original Matrix?
Maybe 3D will help.

Will Epic Mickey HD Come To The PS3 in 2011?
Tuesday, December 28, 2010
K. Joseph
Do not know if to label this as horse shit or rumor, as of right now I will label it as a rumor because it makes some sense. It looks like Disney Interactive and Warren Spector's 2D masterpiece, Epic Mickey, will be heading to the PS3 very soon.A Spanish website called PSNow! reported earlier the big news, but the article has mysteriously vanished. According to QJ.net, "we got some fresh details about Mickey's PS3 outing. According to reports, the game "will not be a conversion of the game released a few weeks ago for Wii, but an independent development in a parallel since 2008, with an engine optimized to the capabilities of PlayStation 3, which will allow 720p native resolution and a rate of 60 frames per second sustainable."
Epic Mickey is also to support the PlayStation Move and "will be available in physical format Blu-ray and through digital download from PlayStation Store." QJ.net, also suggest that "the game launch will occur after a period of exclusivity for at least six months given to Nintendo. As expected, our boy Mickey will have a Collector's Edition of the game that will contain the film Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 on Blu-ray with bonus content yet to reveal.
From a marketing stand point this seems like a pretty sensible rumor. Disney is in the movie business and to have a grand re-release of Fantasia on Blu-ray along side with Epic Mickey coming to the PS3 in HD Blu-ray and probably 3D? It's a win win for all involved.

Is Google TV and PS3 a match made in Heaven?
Tuesday, November 02, 2010
K. Joseph
The battle for our television and living rooms is being wage on an intergalactic scale. With Apple and Microsoft's Xbox 360 leading the way and many other players injecting their two cents such as; Slingbox, Roku and Samsung/Yahoo. Now there is a new player on the block, by the name of Google TV. Google and Sony's relationship can only be described as very interesting. With Sony releasing HDTV sets with Google TV and blu-ray players with Google TV. It may only seem to be inevitable that Google TV may find it's way onto the Sony PS3 sometime next year.
Sony's PS3 as evolved tremendously since it's arrival in 2006. But Sony still needs a must have App that will make the PS3 even more appealing. This is where Google TV comes into play.
Currently there is Torne in Japan, which let's the local populace record live & watch live television shows in HD and watch them from the comfort of the PS3. There may be even trophy integration for Torne. Europe has PlayTV which is an HDTV/DVR add on unit for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) video game console. It allows the PS3 to act as an HDTV or DTV receiver as well as a digital video recorder (DVR) for recording television programmes to the hard drive for later viewing. The application will only start up with the DVB-T adaptor connected.
So to ensure the now famous Sony PS3 slogan " it only does everything" Sony has to by default add Google TV to the PS3.

Will Sony utilize IBM Power7 CPU for PlayStation 4 in 2012
Thursday, November 26, 2009
K. Joseph
Let's just say, what if Sony released the PS4 in 2012, that's about three years from today. What sort of exotic technology would Sony force upon the developing world to showcase their artistic freedom. Well, according to Dutch site PS3Clan.nl, Sony is rumored to have selected IBM's Power7 CPU for their next-generation console tentatively called the PlayStation 4.
th
IBM shall debut POWER7 for the server market in the summer of 2010. The PlayStation 4 shall use a cost effective version of the architecture custom designed for Sony's specific needs.
FGNOnline currently has info available regarding specifications and performance is that the PS4 implementation of the chip shall use 6-8 cores, 24-32MB shared L3 Cache, Quad threading per core, and a double precision performance approaching 200GFLOPS.
The CELL chip which powers the PS3 is capable of 15 double precision GFLOPS. The CELL chip which powers the PS3 is capable of 15 GFLOPS double precision. This would give the PS4 a performance leap of over 10 fold over it's predecessor.
If true the PS4 would indeed be a graphical powerhouse when debuted sometime after 2010. I'll have to chalk this up as an rumor for now until I hear otherwise.

Firefox and Sony may team up?
Friday, November 20, 2009
K. Joseph
Sony is looking to replace or maybe upgrade their current browser with Firefox hopefully.
There's been rumors Google and Sony may team up, now Playstation Insider is reporting that Sony and Mozilla are in talks to bring Firefox the the PS3. Currently the PS3 is the only console this generation with a real browser, but it's pretty mediocre. If Sony can bring Firefox to the PS3 coupled with HD 3D this can help turn the tides in Sony's favor. Now you can already surf the web on your PS3, but it is still limited with Firefox thrown into the action it will make the PS3 truly do everything.

Dead Space 2 adds Multiplayer
Sunday, November 15, 2009
K. Joseph
The internet without speculation and rumors is just not the internet. Dead Space 2 has been rumored to be in the works for a 2010 release. From what we know, it's definitely happening, but it's nothing we can declare as fact until we have the press release in our hand, because this is the way the videogame industry works. With that in mind, here's the latest evidence, a job listing from EA that seems to reveal the mode.
Electronic Arts is currently looking for a "Senior Online Level Designer" to work on the Dead Space franchise. Applicants must be able to "Conceptualize, script, direct, and build online levels for the game." The game in question is not explicitly listed as Dead Space 2, but it is referenced as a Dead Space game on the PS3 and Xbox 360. What else could it be?

Will God of War III have Co-op?
Sunday, November 15, 2009
K. Joseph
The flames of speculation are slowly beginning to spread across the net. It is being reported by The Gamers Access that God of War III may add Online Co-op. The Gamer Access did some digging on Sony’s Retail Loyalty website. This site is best described as keeping Sony’s retail channels up to date and informed about Sony's products. Hidden within the site some very revealing information about God of War III, it appears to reveal a Co-Op function for the much sought after title.

Sony responds to rumors that Twitter may come next
Facebook integration will be added to the PS3 XMB and you can see a few leaked images from the upcoming service already scattered across the internet.
The good folks, over at Eurogamer, have been informed by a source ‘close to Sony’ that the news is indeed legit and the fact that Sony will be releasing information on this soon.
Furthermore, those leaked pictures obtained by ScrawlFX seems very real real, meaning that gamers will be treated to color customization on Gamercards and a new photo browser, on top of the XMB facebook features.
The best part of it all it;s free just like your PC, but you can play a game of uncharted 2 afterward's.

Mass Effect 2 "kinda,sorta,maybe" coming to PS3
Saturday, October 17, 2009
K. Joseph
According to Polish gaming Web site Polygamia, Watamaniuk presented two games during the event, one of those being Mass Effect 2. In that section of his presentation, Watamaniuk said the sci-fi RPG was set to hit three platforms: the Xbox 360, PC, “and probably PS3.” Polygamia writes that the man realized his mistake and shortly began backpedaling, saying that the studio doesn’t comment on rumors and speculation. In other words, they don’t comment on stories like this.Thursday, October 15, 2009
Rumor: PS3 cross-game chat in next firmware
Thursday, October 15, 2009
K. Joseph
In a PlayStation.com Forums thread about the existing Uncharted 2 chat system, a Naughty Dog staffer with the handle "ReklissAbandon" reportedly said that "the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat."Reported statement made by ReklissAbandon:
"I think they wanted people to have fun and ejoy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on. But I will suggest it anyway. Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions."

Resistance 3 Invading PS3 Soon
Sunday, October 11, 2009
K. Joseph

Insomniac Games, one of the premiere developers in the industry--looks like they are planning Sgt. Nathan Hale's, third tour on the PS3. Insomniac Games has had a great and celebrated start on one of the most complex gaming systems in the world. They were able to create the current masterpieces Resistance 1 & 2 and the much loved Ratchet and Clank series for the PS3.
The billboard was spotted by forum user “goldsoundz” from the site NeoGAF, who went on to say:
“I saw this billboard today in Shreveport, Louisiana. There are a lot of movies filmed here, and this one is about some sort of alien takeover of Los Angeles; the name of the film escapes me at the moment. Snapped off a few photos of the billboard since I wasn’t sure if the game had been announced yet or not. If not, then I’m surprised Insomniac would be announcing it here of all places.”

Do not know the legitimacy of the Billboard and Sony has not officially announce anything but it's not inconceivable with the recent surge in sales for the PS3 Slim(and if you had a chance to play Resistance 2 the ending points to a Resistance 3). And Ratchet and Clank:A Crack in Time scheduled for an October 27th release.
Insomniac Games would not just sit around Bo-jangling with 2010 shaping up to be very important year for Sony--with great franchise releases planed, for example: God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, FFXIII, Team ICO's new Project, The Agent just to name a few. Why not throw Resistance 3 into the mixed just chalk this up as a rumor for now now stay tune to Video Gamer's Heaven for more information.

PS3: LittleBigPlanet & Resident Evil - with Motion Control
Friday, September 25, 2009
K. Joseph
Sony recently announced a full list of games that will support Sony's new motion controls. It seems some current games will be supporting Sony's new tech. At TGS09 Capcom showed off Resident Evil 5 using Sony's new motion control tech, if that was not enough Sony went off and shown LittleBigPlanet being played with Sony's motion control. Check out the video after the jump:LittleBigPlanet PS3 Motion Controls
Resident Evil 5: Director's Cut is currently slated for a Spring release. Hopefully Sony and Capcom will release an online update to add the feature to regular copies of the game so we don't have to spring for a whole new disc.

Will No More Heroes on land PS3?
Thursday, September 24, 2009
K. Joseph
With the industry buzzing about another motion control device being delivered to the masses via Sony PS3. No More Heroes, game designer Goichi Suda has stated:"I originally didn't want to make another No More Heroes," The game was supposed to be a one off dealio, but when the title did well, sequels do happen." Luckily for Nintendo Wii fans there will be another No More Heroes on the horizon."It's not just that," Suda explains. "I wanted to revisit Travis Touchdown. I wanted to write the continuation of his story." NMH lead hero Travis Touchdown is joined by more characters and boss battles this go round in No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle. The title has been in development for about a year and a half and is shooting for an early 2010 release.
"Right now, I don't think I'll make another one, though," says Suda. "This game does wrap up Travis' story nicely." But so many movies are in trilogies — a point that movie buff Suda is quick to concede.
With the introduction of Sony's new motion controls, it would not be too far stretch to see No More Heroes ported over to the PS3. "I'm not playing platform favorites," says Suda. "For me, No More Heroes is about two handed controls — the way you play. But I do very much think of the game as being a Wii title." There you go motion control fan boys, one of Nintendo's Wii most highly rated game may jump to the dark side.
It would be very interested to see how ports will be handled for the PS3 and 360. I do not see many developers having challenges with Xbox 360 Natal but I am slightly concern about the current challenges with ports in general for the PS3. Porting a Wii game in theory should be a fairly easy affair but I am no game developer I just play one online.
