Are we finally going to see Trophies for MGS4?

It's a crying shame that we have not seen any trophies for Metal Gear Solid 4 and a MGS HOME space has yet to become a reality in PlayStation Home. Well hopefully this will be changing in the near future, Brandon Laurino (the Online Director for Konami) posted a comment on Sony's official blog.

"Hi all - I’m jumping in to post some responses to the questions and comments here. First, to clear up some discussion about the PS Wallet / Store - SCENE will be available to purchase using your PS Wallet (the funds you have on PSN), but will not be available for purchase / download through the PS Store. So, basically, it’s another payment option (along with PayPal) available through the in-game / MGO store. Hopefully, this will help those of you who have had issues with payment in the past, and generally make it easier to get this content. On the subject of MGS4/MGO trophies and Konami ID - we hear you. We have been circulating these issues internally, and we will report back as soon as we are able. With regards to “cheaters”, it’s a battle every online game must face, and we have been working on addressing the specific “cheats” you have detailed, so please stay tuned. Also, we have been aggressively wielding the “banhammer”, and every genuine video/photo/or other evidence of cheating you can send us at"

Come on Sony WTF are you waiting for. Metal Gear Solid 4 should have had trophies many moons ago, but it's never too late. I want to see trophies for MGS 4 before the PS3 price cut.

Sony alongside with RealD 3D, Avid, 3alitydigital, Pace, IMAX, NEC, Virtual Images and Dolby 3D are making huge strides with 3D cinema technology. Sony has recently released a Single-projector 3D adaptor for Sony 4K Projector late last year. Sony's new adaptor uses the full height of Sony’s 4K imaging device, with the ability to display full 2K images for the left and right eye simultaneously and in parallel, from top and bottom.

So what does this have to do with the Sony PS3? The PS3 is a modern day version of the Trojan horse. What do I mean you ponder? Will as you can see Sony has a heavily invested interest in Blu-ray technology even though sales of Video Games eclipse DVD/Blu-ray in 2008. According to reports, Blu-ray sales will see an increase of double the sales in 2009. For 3D movies to make the transition from movie theaters to our living room, the technology needs to be in place.

Currently they are over 19+ million PS3 owners with access to a blu-ray player burning current in homes all across the world. With 3D movies adding additional cost to overall production the movies studios need to make their money back. At this year CES 2009, 3D was the rave most importantly 3D HD Television displays.

With 3D Television sets already on the market and building steam. Blu-ray is one of the only media storage device that will help usher in 3D movies in our living rooms. They are currently 29 big budget 3D movies slated for 2009-2011.

In December 2008, Pioneer Corporation unveiled a 400 GB Blu-ray disc, which contains 16 data layers, 25 GB each, and will be compatible with current players after a firmware update(PS3). A planned launch is in the 2009-2010 time frame for ROM and 2010-2013 for rewritable discs. Ongoing development is under way to create a 1 TB Blu-ray disc as soon as 2013. Movies will capitalize on the massive storage space of Blu-ray at first and True HD 3D will be part of the process.

So lets review, Big Budget 3D movies are right around the corner(check), 3D television HD sets are on the market now and building steam(check), Blu-ray storage space will be increase just in time for big budget movies(check), and most importantly there is about 25+ million blu-ray players including Sony PS3 in homes around the globe(check).

Once 3D movies land on blu-ray, video games will only soon follow. Andrew Oliver Chief Technology Officer and Neil Schneider President & CEO of Blitz game Studios has confirm that Sony "Fully intends" to support stereoscopic 3d gaming and Blu-ray for the Sony PS3. According to Neil Schneider "The best part is console support will only need a bios to work, and we are told that the ability to add this capability via bios may be unique to Sony PS3 versus other console solutions". This is evidence that with a single firmware update Sony can make all PS3s True 3D HD players for movies and games.

Being that firmware update 3.0 will land sometime this year can we expect to see 3D in firmware 3.0?

Dear Sony, I want to Love "HOME" but I just Can't!

Maybe it's just me, I was not a fan of the critically acclaim Mass Effect(personally the hype is not justified for this game"my opinion") and the first hour or so of Fallout 3 bored the shit out of me. So you what the hell does this have to do with Sony Home, well absolutely nothing. Just had to get that off my chest.

I have been anticipating Sony's virtual social space Home for the longest time, when I had the oppertunity to finally join the beta I was eager elated and pretty pumped. Now about two plus months later Sony's Home has dropped on PSN and at best, it's a mediocre experience.

I am trying hard maybe too hard to enjoy and see the value in Home. But every time, I boot up my Sony PS3 and hit the Home icon a slight quiver of excitement hits me until I start to explore and interact with Home.

If boredom was to be manifested into a virtual environment it would be called "Home". Yes, there are a few new rooms, Red Bull, Uncharted and Farcry 2. Besides Red Bull, there is no point to the Uncharted Home space and FarCry 2 Home space.

So what else does Sony have planned for "Home" besides EA Sports Complex(sounds interesting)will they do something amazing with firmware update 3.0 or would they milk the "beta title" to justify the mediocrity. At this moment there are a few things wrong with "Home". It lacks most of the features that was promised and it's a virtual bank for Sony(microtranstation anyone). See video below and you be the judge

Where is my trophy room? Where are the third party "Home Spaces"? Can I have the ability to move faster in Home? Could we have faster loading times when traveling to and from different "Home Spaces" The problem with Home for me is it still feels dull and lifeless even with people running around doing the cabbage patch. it feels very "1999"

I know Home is supposed to be a virtual meeting place to meet new people and hang out with your current friends. Most of the people on my friend list does not even know Home exist(they are never "Home"). The virtual stores located in "Home" currently still have the same shit form the beta, nothing new, cool or exciting has yet to emerge.

Where is the ability to take content from my HDD and place it into my personal "Home space"? I know "Home" is a ginormous( I know this is not a work but add it to your vocab) endeavor and will take a while to come to full fruition, but Sony has been fiddling around with "home" for about three years now. And it still feels half ass.

Why not include new content with every new firmware update? Offer new animation for sale(.99) or allow your users to created new content and upload it to "Home". Where is a LittleBigPlanet Space? I would think you can and should be able to incorprate LBP into "Home" in very cool and unique ways. What is Sony waiting for? How about a Metal Gear Solid Space? Sony two biggest titles has no love in "Home" (Besides LBP ads) "WTF"

Sony "Home" has great potential and I hope Sony fulfills on their promise and dreams with "Home", but at the moment "Home" is filled with empty promises and unrealized dreams.

Video Games sales KO DVD/Blu-ray sales in 2008

Video Games outpaced DVD/Blu-ray sales for the first time on a global scale in 2008. According to, Media Control GfK international game sales grew 20% in 2008, to $32 billion. Combined DVD/Blu-ray sales fell 6%, to $29 billion. You can very well bet "your left whatever" that Nintendo had a great hand in the pawange of DVD/Blu-ray.

GfK is also reporting, that game software will grow to 12% this year, to about $36 billion, while DVD and Blu-ray combined will decline another 4%. I will have to say looking at Sony's list of exclusives in 2009 and the cash machine they called the "Wii". It only makes sense that software sales will grow in 2009.

Even though Blu-ray sales may seem like it may be suffering. Blu-ray sales will more than double in 2009 hitting $2.9 billion, according to GkK.

Sony PS3 TV Advertising Needs Help ASAP

Sony has received constant flack and criticism from the online gaming media conglomerates and rabid fandrones of the gaming community for many things. Everything from, being too hard to develop for, cost of hardware is out of reach for the mass public, no AAA games, blu-ray sucks, PS3 has no B/C, and the only thing I agree with "Sony Television Advertising sucks ass through straws"

Sony recent waves of ads are simply terrible and mundane. Way back around the beginning of the new millennium(2001) Sega had a very amusing and great television ad campaign that Sony can learn from for SegaNet. Now, that Sega is no longer revelant in the console world could Sony still learn form them? Simple answer"yes".

-video after the jump:

The most recent PSN ad debuting the PSN Video Store is at the best blah. The ad is filled with contrite humor and there is nothing that makes you say "I want that PS3" or "I want to do that on my PS3" . I understand it can be fairly hard for Sony to find the right balance when making an attempt to explain a digital device that can do it all in HD and eventually 3D. But shit, Sony you need to try harder.

The next Sony PS3 ad shows off some actual in-game content with video footage. But the stupidest thing of it all, Sony show's you all the games videos on a white brick wall at night on the side of a building "WTF". This ad does nothing for any of the games being showcased. You cannot judge the quality of the games being showed, you could barley tell what games are being showed "WFT"

Sony ads does not excite, and this is a clear classic example of "when game ads go bad". If I was a gamer contemplating the purchase of a new next gen console and I saw Sony's ad for the first time. I would be some what dumbfounded about what they hell does a Sony PS3 has to offer me?

-Note to Sony: Please show gameplay footage of Sony AAA exclusives on anything else but the side of a fucking building at night!

-Note to Sony : Please show the games so people can see the high production value within advertised game!

-Note to Sony: Make the public want your shit and feel that they cannot live without it(Apple does a great job with its products), sprinkle a little excitement into your ads Sony "please for the love of God".

Sega is no longer making consoles but there's was one constant you will get out of their ads, how good the games look and owning a Sega console could be utter fun.

Sony has a long way to go to establishing a better perception of their mega console. This can be done by using many methods, with advertiser strapped for cash and willing to whore themselves to corporate America/Japan. Why not take advantage of the current economic climate and commission better high quality television ads.

Metal Gear Solid Touch!

It has been reveal that the mystery being the glowing green symbols that has caused many Sony PS3 fanboys revolating across the Internet. Is actually Metal Gear Solid Touch for the iPhone. Thanks to Famitsu and the good people at IGN details has slowly emerge.

Reportedly the player would not be able to control Snake himself. Players will have the ability to change the viewpoint, and tap the screen to fire. You will be able to zoom by using the "iPhone pinch".

The game may have some connection with Metal Gear Solid 4, thought unlike its predecessor this game will focus more on shooting versus stealth. Notable figure behind MGST are Hideo Kojima himself and Yasuyo Watanabe previous chief web designer at Kojima Productions. According to Hideo Kojima, the reason for the shooter on the iPhone, he felt it would be easy for people to pick up and play on the train or plane.

Sorry Xbox fanboys it looks like MGS4 will never come to the Xbox360. Hideo showed some love to Apple in MGS4 so I guess this makes sense. It also sheds light on an unforgiving reality to Xbox 360 fanboys/girls " Metal Gear Solid 4 will never see the light of day on an Xbox" at least for now.

Are the Cut Scenes in Metal Gear Solid too Long?

They are some opinions out there that MGS4 is a 20hr movie with very limited game play. There is almost misinformation about 90 plus minutes cut scenes. In my opinion Metal Gear Solid 4 would not be MGS without high production cut scenes that drives the story along.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Hideo Kojima masterpiece has finally grace HD displays all over the world. I would not go into how great MGS4 is or how it should be hands down the GOTD you can reference metacritic an see that MGS4 is the highest rated game since Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time one of my all time favorite games.

Cut Scenes is a sequence in a video game over which the player has little or no control, often breaking up the gameplay and used to advance the plot, present character development, and provide background information, atmosphere, dialogue and clues. Cut scenes can either be animated or use live action footage according to Wiki.

Metal Gear Series has always rely on stealth and cut scenes to show and tell how the story unfolds. Cut Scenes has been a part of video games since 1985 with Enix's Portpia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken.

After I played and finished MGS4, I return to GTA IV another great multi-platform game for Sony PS3 and Xbox360. I noticed that GTA IV is littered with cut scenes throughout the game with many a few minutes long. There's really not too much mention regarding GTA IV cut scenes or debate. Now, I know GTA IV and the 20 years that MGS4 had to explain are two different animals.

I personally enjoyed and appreciated the cut scenes done throughout Metal Gear Solid 4 and felt that they were not too long. Metal Gear Solid 4 had to revisit and answer 20 years of story line, you can do two things to tell this epic story: you can go the ways of Mass Effect's boring dialogue system or you can have Hollywood quality cut scenes that would make Michael Bay very jealous. I prefer the latter with excellent graphic and Hollywood sound production.

If you are a Metal Gear fan the length of the cut scenes would not bother you, because they're very well done and utterly engaging. Anyone who has never ventured into the Metal Gear universe may be lost and may not appreciate the story and compound the complexion of the controls may make things a little more frustrating then it may appear.

If you have not played Metal Gear series and is very interesting in picking up a must have game for your Sony PS3. I heavily recommend you download the MGS4 interactive data base and review and get caught up with the MGS universe or if you have a fully intact PS3 that is Backward Compatible and a little extra cash, head to Ebay and find cheap copies of MGS, MGS2, MGS3 and enter a universe that some do not know exist. And scientist right now are trying to prove it exist watch video below:

Only One Complaint about MGS4!

MGS4 is an wonderfully brilliant game that has ushered in the next generation of gaming with a silent bang.

Setting up your online account to play MGS4 online is a pain in the ass. You need to set up a Konami ID and a Gamer ID. When you set up two different account you have to make sure your password includes numbers, letters, (-),(_) and(.). This is the case for your Gamer ID and your Konami ID. This process is a pain to do on the Sony PS3 it took me about 20 minutes to try to register and was a very frustrating experience.

Now it may be easier just to hop on your computer or laptop and do it form there, that is what I will be doing this evening.

The only reason I see for a separate account to play MGSO would be to thwart off cheater with multiple accounts, and most importantly micro transactions. Sony PSN has came leap and bounds since it came it over a year ago. "But" there should be a more efficient means of setting up an account to play MGSO.

I guess once I am up and running MGSO all my aggravation will melt away.................

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patirots Nano Impression

Once in a while great things seems to emerge in our lives that can make profound impact. It can be a great movie, Unusual Suspects, a great car Lexus LS600h, or just a special moment in your life "the birth of a child".

Video Games has officially stepped into the world of something "Special" MGS4: Guns of the Patriots Directed by Hideo Kojima, and a Sony PS3 exclusive has to be the first game to try its best to merge Hollywood with the interactively of a video game.

MGS4: Guns of the Patriots is a game that may put a few people off because of the complexity, MGS4 is not COD4 or in no way like Gears Of War for Xbox360. MGS4 lets you play the game any way you want to. You can run and gun, sneak around and not kill a single person(except for Boss Battles), you can play FPS style, you get the point MGS4 is arguably the only game on the market that gives you almost an endless amount of possibilities to tackle any given scenario.

Graphics: Graphics are the key element to a great action game. Akin to special effect being a major enhancer of a great action movie. MGS4 sports arguably the best graphics on any system at this moment this includes: PC, Xbox360, and I'm sorry the Nintendo Wii(the Wii should not count) I have never seen something so beautiful dance across my HD display since HS, Uncharted, Folklore and R&CTOD(MGS4 takes it to another level).

Playing all of Sony exclusive should in theory prepare you for Metal gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots but its does not this is graphical splendor at its best. The attention to detail is almost mind boggling. For example there is a brief glimpse one of the Bosses Camel Toe no kidding....there is not a jagged line on your TV, my best body came over and the first thing he said was "Woow that looks very crisp and clean" and it does. There are moments in MGS4 that are truly an absolute specular to be hold. A great movies gets your attention and emotion by building great moments and MGS4 is the only game that strides so hard to pull off some of the most breathtaking moments in Video gaming history. And credit to Hideo Kijma he pulls them off with ease and technial brilliance that will and should have Hollywood rethink a lot of things about their industry.

Every movie or trailer you see online for MGS4 is using in-game assets making the transition from cut scenes to actual game play seamless. Some may complain about the number or length of MGS4 cut scenes, for as long as I can remember I have played games for the cut scenes especially the final cut scenes when you beat the game. I feel as this generation of gaming has moved forward the lack of great endings has gone down the toilet and same goes for great cut scenes to unfold the story.

Sound: I am a sucker for pretty things that sound good. One thing that the Sony PS3 does better that most things on the market is DIGITAL AUDIO. All the audio in MGS4 is uncompress digital audio if you have a HD audio system you are in for a treat. If you do not have a HD audio device your are still in for a treat. I am currently using a Sony 6:1 Dolby Digital Receiver no HDMI connection. I am using a digital optical connection. Some of the riches sounds you will hear in any game will be in MGS4 with the power of Blu-ray really shining bright.

Overall Feelings:
I can sit here and write for days about one of the greatest gaming achievements, there is enough information online that will say the same thing only in different words. Some people may not like the amount of cut scenes, or may be turn off by how complex MGS4 may feels.

If you ever sit down and give MGS4 a chance and you happen to be a gamer you will walk away with the appreciation that Hideo Kijma did something that all developers should do when making a game no matter what system it is on "Hideo Kijma put his heart and soul into MGS4 and it is evident throughout the entire game"If all games where made with such care, love and appreciation to the gamer, video games would be an untouchable medium.

MGS4 is a great game that is worth the price of admission and the cost of a new PS3(the best Blu-ray player and Audio devise money can buy) if you do not have one. If not owning the best HD audio devise or best Blu-ray player on the market does not excite your "Inner Geek" I think MGS4 would only "Feed the Geek"

After Thoughts:MGS4 is still consider a first generation game for the Sony PS3 what is going to happen when people finally get the grasp of the Sony PS3 three, four years from now? Would Sony be able to put Hollywood on their knees in five to eight year? Would Sony PS3 make Hollywood re-think a new direction? Is Hollywood scared about the future of gaming and how it is going to impact their industry?

MGS4 in Stores Now!!!

Just picked up my copy of MGS4 at around 10am et from my local Blockbuster. I would have to admit that I am very excited to play what may be the greatest game this generation.

I feel like I am 7 years old counting down Christmas on Christmas eve so I can open my presents, my inner child right now is beaming with, excitement, joy, curiosity, and pure bliss.

NanoGeekTechTv presents: If MGS4 ever came out on Xbox 360

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be a massive game about 50GB in size. That is a lot of HD, digital sound, excitement, joy, anger and pure jubilation, stuffed into a 120mm disc.

I found this video if MGS4 was to come out on Microsoft Xbox360 this is how it would be. Very funny

Nano Opinion: MGS4 the Holy Grail found at Last!

Many people say you cannot buy happiness, that's absolute total bullshit. I paid about $500.00 for my personal piece of happiness on November 2006. And beginning June 12th the smile on my face will be a permanent fixture brought along by a shiny black box that does it all.

The Holy Grail for videogames has been the ability to capture the emotions of your on screen alter ego. With the introduction of the Sony PlayStation 3, the ability to capture the soul of a virtual character is becoming a reality.

The Sony PlayStation showed brief glimpse of character evolution with its first batch of Exclusives.
  • Uncharted developed by Naughty Dog did an excellent job breathing life into its leading character Nathan Drake.

  • Naughty Dog did an uncanny job of capturing Nathan Drake exploits throughout the game. Beside conveying Nathan's emotions the stunning visuals of Uncharted made the game a very memorable experience.
Naughty Dog's Uncharted was not the first game on Sony PS3 that evoked an emotional relationship with the main hero.

  • Heavenly Sword Sony's second exclusive did arguably one of the best jobs of capturing the soul of human emotions in a game. HS had it flaws, its major flaw being it was over way too quick.

Heavenly Sword (PS3) Trailer - video powered by Metacafe

  • After completing Heavenly Sword for Sony PS3 there is a heart felt connection with all of the main character in the game:Nariko is the main character of the game. She's 23 years old at the beginning of the game, Kai is the adopted sister of Nariko, and a member of the clan which protects the Heavenly Sword. Shen is both the father of Nariko and the leader of the clan that protects the Heavenly Sword, King Bohan is the main villain in Heavenly Sword. Bohan is a power crazed king(actor Andy Serkis plays King Bohan and he gives an epic ass performance), , and my favorite Roach is King Bohan's illegitimate son. Roach is mentally retarded and he often seeks his father's approval.
June 12th will bring forth a quantum leap in how we feel about the characters we play in any game. Metal Gear Solid 4 is poised to bring every aspect of Hollywood to the palm of your hands.

MGS4 will be drenched in HD audio and a visual digital fidelity never ever seen before. With the audio and visual immersion at extremes, Metal Gear Solid 4 creator Hideo Kojima( the Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Peter Jackson, Michael Bay and Wachowski brothers all rolled into one) will make us rethink how we feel about our virtual heroes for the reminding portion of our lives. The next generation of gaming begins June 12th 2008 only on Sony PS3...................

BBC rates MGS4 says game has "Implied Child Rape"

Hey those crazy Brits at BBC has rated MGS4 for the Sony PS3. Before you contuine to read this may contain spoilers.**If you want to call it that!

METAL GEAR SOLID 4 is a third person tactical/stealth game. The player takes on the role of an aging soldier, Snake who can be armed with knives, guns and grenades. The game has been classified '15' for strong violence.

During battles enemy soldiers die with small puffs of blood. The weaponry includes petrol bombs, however there is no detailed portrayal of injuries. During cut scenes slightly more detailed violence is portrayed, such as enemy creatures spearing friendly soldiers and one protracted fist fight.

The violence is generally undetailed. At 15 BBFC Guidelines state that 'Violence may be strong but may not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury'. It is possible for the player to progress stealthily through the game, avoiding violent confrontations where possible.

The game also features one use of strong language and references to suicide and an implied child rape.

The last line is a little chilling "implied child rape" would this mean that MGS4 may get a M rating? How would critic perceive such depictions or is BBC just being a little too hard?. We will have to wait till June 12th 2008 Friday morning before we know.
